A local music group, NEW CREATION, are celebrating the release of their second CD this week. Entitled "THE FLAME", the songs follow the pattern of a Eucharist Service and includes 23 tracks. The group, from St. John the Baptist and St Helen's church in Wroughton, spent three months recording the CD earlier this year at the Music Workshop Sound Studios in Devizes, under the guidance of Pete Lamb. As well as including popular and well-known songs, three of the group's members have written and composed some original material. Andrea Hardway has written and performs the title track "The Flame". Andrew Bond has written and performs "Zaccchaeus' Rag" and "Gods Love Boogie". He has also written a beautiful setting for the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus Dei. Ian Hudson sings his own composition, "Port of Call", a very thoughtful and moving piece. The extent of the Group's talents are well reflected on the CD, the songs have been arranged using all voices, sometimes as a group, duets or singing solo. The musical arrangements are superb, using different guitars and keyboard sounds to suit the variety of songs. The inclusion of the harmonica and clarinet add colour and musical interpretation. The Groups last CD sold many more copies than expected, with profits being used for Youth and Mission Works. Profit from this CD will be used to support people who are homeless. The colourful CD cover, painted by the father of one of the group, Wilfred Packer, truly depicts "The Flame" Overall graphic design was done by Chris Bevan. NEW CREATION regularly lead worship at Wroughton, and this year have been to Dursley and Park South Swindon, two schools and led the St George's Day Service for the Ridgeway Scouts. They will be leading the launch service for FLAME FM on 13th May.
